The Place Located at 727 East Coast Road beside Siglap Centre, I checked out the relatively new Jungyi Korean Food which is a casual Korean dining stall located in a coffeeshop called 3838 Eating Place. Jungyi Korean Food serves up affordable Korean dishes and is run by a Korean lady who used to work at Korean restaurants in Singapore.
The coffeeshop is quite spacious, well-ventilated and relatively easy to get a table.
The Food For a coffeeshop stall, there are more than 15 dishes on the menu where you will find familiar Korean favourites.
I started with the Steamed Egg (S$4.90), one of my favourites in any Korean restaurant. This version is delicious and for the price, it is very good value.
The Beef Bulgogi (S$7.90) set I had come with rice and banchan, which include the likes of seaweed, kimchi and tofu skin. Love the tender and thinly sliced beef here, and even the trio of banchan are very appetising. Refills are possible for the banchan too!
For something to share, I ordered the Ginseng Chicken Soup (S$10.90/small). You get a slight hint of ginseng flavour, and the soup tastes nourishing as it sounds. The chicken portion is quite generous even though I had the small version, where you can expect tender chicken meat here.
Another soup dish I had was the Tofu Soup (S$6.90) with seafood, pork and chicken. This is not too spicy, which makes it easy to drink. It is also more diluted than what I typically get at restaurants.
I also enjoyed the Japchae (S$6.90), a simple mixed vegetables with glass noodles dish to share.
Rants Portions are generally quite small here though for the price, I cannot rant much. Will I Return Again? Good and affordable Korean dishes at Jungyi Korean Food, along with friendly service. This is quite a hidden gem along East Coast Road.
